What is a PDS file
PDS files are most typically associated with the PowerDirector video editing software. Slide shows and video projects are stored in the PDS format. PowerDirector provides a template. PDS files can be based off of this template. Another usage of the PDS file is by NASA for their Planetary Data System. These data files store all kinds of information about solar systems, planets and more.
The video and audio data used for editing is not saved within the PDS project file itself. Rather, PDS files contain references to the files used as well as settings, transition effects, etc. This means that relocating a video or audio file used in the project could cause errors within the PDS files.
Here's a small, but not exhaustive list of programs that can open PDS documents:
- CyberLink PowerDirector 14 Ultra
- CyberLink PowerProducer 6
