What is a I5Z file
This file format is very specific. I5Z files are associated with the International Uniform Chemical Information Database (IUCLID) version 5. This program is used in chemical science to record, save, maintain and exchange data about the properties of chemical substances. The 5 in the format name of I5Z links the files to IUCLID5 in particular. The files allow the export and import of scientific data collected and maintained using IUCLID5.
The data inside an I5Z file is compressed using Zip compression, the Z inside the format name standing for “Zip”. It can contain multiple data files stored in the XML format. Single files can also be found inside the I5Z file. In 2016, the thus far newest version of IUCLID, version 6, was released. So far, no corresponding file format (i.e. I6Z) was introduced, thus I5Z files are still supposed to be compatible with IUCLID6.
