What is a DS file
The DS file extension is associated with several programs and purposes. The most common association, however, is with DAZ studio, an application for 3D modeling. Files with the DS extension are saved in a plain text (ASCII) format. They are used by DAZ studio to, e.g., apply different kinds of presets to an existing 3D model. It is also used to work with the importing and exporting of other file formats.
DS files are saved as plain text. The scripts inside the DS file contain instructions for the DAZ studio application. They trigger the automatic running of certain functions in the application. DS files can either contain code that extends the existing functionalities of DZ studio, or function like a macro to run certain functions. While mostly used in DAZ Studio 1 and 2, DS files are also compatible with DAZ Studio 3. However, in the newer versions of the application, the format has been replaced by the DSA format.
