What is a CAMREC file
Camtasia, a screen capture program for Microsoft Windows, creates CAMREC files for its recordings. These screen recording files can contain both audio and video data, just like any common video file. The purpose of these videos varies from demos and computer training videos to grabbing footage for YouTube videos and more. The format is outdated by now.
The content of the CAMREC video file is made up of the raw recording of whatever happens on the computer screen at the time of recording. Any modifications that are made after the recording using Camtasia is, instead, saved in a separate file using the CAMPROJ file format extension. While Camtasia is also available for Apple Mac computers, the CAMREC file extension is exclusively used by the Windows program. Mac uses the CMREC extension instead. As of Camtasia version 8.4 for Windows and 2.8 for Mac, however, both extensions were replaced by the TREC extension anyway.
