What is a BRAW file
BRAW is the raw video format used by Blackmagic cameras. Videos taped with these cameras produce BRAW files as their native file format. In essence, the BRAW file is a container containing compressed images in a certain sequence as well as audio.
While old Blackmagic formats are still compatible with newer programs, the BRAW format is not compatible with older programs such as CinemaDNG. The BRAW container format is very similar to the MOV video container, but with additional elements added to it. The single images inside the BRAW are encoded and have a special data representation.
Here's a small, but not exhaustive list of programs that can open BRAW documents:
- Adobe Premiere Por (via plugin)
- Blackmagic Design Davinci Resolve
