What is a MTS file
MTS is a file format which is used to run high definition videos. AVCHD (Advanced Video Coding High Definition) is the name under which this video file format is more commonly known. Both 720p as well as 1080i are supported by this file extension. The software usually distributed when purchasing Panasonic and Sony High Definition Camcorders is able to open and process files with the MTS extension, enabling the user to edit the files as well.
MTS is a widely distributed file extension associated with video files. It is, among others, being used for the Blu-Ray Disc MPEG-2 Transport System. Basically, MTS files are a modified version of the specification used for MPEG-2 Transport Streams commonly used for Blu-Rays, DVDs, Hard Disks, or solid state memory cards.
